Rasys dydd Mercher

Nid ceffylau yn unig fydd yn cystadlu yn Cheltenham. O na. Mae’r hyfforddwyr ar jocis yn chwilio am goron hefyd. Ie, y gystadleuaeth i weld pwy fydd yr hyfforddwr llwyddiannus a pwy fydd y joci llwyddiannus. Wrth gwrs mae’r bwcis yn fodlon i gymryd eich arian ar yr ornest yma hefyd.

Nicky Henderson oedd yn llwyddiannus tro diwethaf. Fe gafodd saith buddugoliaeth flwyddyn yn ôl, cawn weld a fydd hanes yn ailadrodd ei hun. Mae’n siŵr fydd Willie Mullins enillydd 2011 a Paul Nicholls yn trio cipio’r goron oddiwrth Henderson.

Ond ddoe diwrnod Wille Mullins oedd hi hefo tair buddugoliaeth. Mae ar dân ar hyn o bryd, un rheswm arall i ddewis Union Dues 5.15 prynhawn ‘mha. Hefyd y ras gyntaf, sef Back in Focus.

Beth am y joci gorau. Barry Geraghty enillodd flwyddyn yn ôl. Faswn ddim yn synnu iddo neud y gamp eto eleni. Ond wrth gwrs mae Ruby Walsh wedi ennill y teitl pum gwaith yn y chwe blwyddyn ddiwethaf ac wedi cael dechrau da ddoe hefo tair ras o dan ei felt.

Ceffyl y diwrnod fydd Sprinter Sacre. Pwy fyddai digon dewr i bacio yn erbyn y ceffyl yma.

Wel, dyma dipiau'r diwrnod. Cawn weld sut eith hi. Mha rhaid adeiladu ar y ddau a enillodd ddoe.

Diwrnod cyntaf Cheltenham

Mae’r Gwanwyn ar ei ffordd. Syt dwi’n gwybod? Nid bod cenhinen bedr a’r crocws allan. Ond mae gŵyl Cheltenham gyda ni unwaith eto. Er, i fod yn onest, blas gaeafol fydd arni leni.
Ond anhebyg bydd oerni’r gwynt yn effeithio mwynhad y dorf. Bydd yr wŷl pedwar diwrnod yn denu tros chwarter miliwn o pyntiwyr trwy’r gâtiau. Mae nha naws unigryw i’r pedwar diwrnod o rasio.
Un peth sydd yn creu yr awyrgyll arbennig yw’r ffaith bod rhan helaeth o boblogaeth yr Iwerddon yn ymfudo ar cwrs rasio. Ffordd da i paratoi cyn dathlu diwrnod Sant Padrig mi tybiaf.
Ond mwy pwysig byth mae cyffylau gorau’r ‘naid’ yno yn dangos eu dawn a hefyd eu dewrder. Fe allwch gael sêt flaen gan bod 20 o’r 27 ras i’w  darlledu’n fyw ar C4. Felly cewch gweld bron i bob naid ac mwy pwysig byth cewch y tipio gorau hefyd. Gan pwy? Y fi, wrthgwrs.
Felly ymlaen a ni i’r tipiau a cofiwch gwneud eich dewis bob ffordd ar ots dros 7/1.

Rasys a fan bethau

Wel, mha hi’n ddydd Sadwrn, diwrnod y chwaraeon. Abertawe ar y ffordd i ganolbarth Lloegr i cystadlu yn erbyn West Brom. Gêm mwya’ i llawer o Gogs fydd Everton yn erbyn Wigan yn Cwpan FA. Buddugoliaeth i’r ‘toffees’ r’wyf  yn rhagweld.

Myfyrdod bach ar Gareth Bale. Gôl  arall mewn chwe munud yn erbyn Inter yn ornest cynghrair Ewropa. Mae’r bachgen ar dân yn sgorio ym mhob gêm.   Dim rhyfedd bod Ladbrokes wedi lleihau'r ots arno i gael ei enwi yn PFA Chwaraewr y Flwyddyn o 2/5 i 2/7.

Ond i fi mae fics peldroed y penwythnos drosodd ar ôl canlyniad Bangor neithiwr. Ennill wrth gwrs, o ddau gôl i ddim yn erbyn Airbus UK.

Wrth gwrs bydd sylw cenedl ar yr Alban. Na, ddim i ddilyn geiriau diwedda Alex Salmond ar yr refferedwm holl bwysig. Na yn wir. Ond i ddilyn ein tîm cenedlaethol. Bydd hi ddim yn hawdd. Mae’r Alban yn mwy effeithiol y tymor yma na buont ers llawer i ddydd. Dwi’n poeni braidd! Ond y llef yw “C’mon Cymru.”

Ond byd rasys ceffylau bydd yn cymryd fy sylw.  I wneud hi’n rhwydd i byntwyr cadair freichiau, tipiau heddiw i gyd ar rasys C4. Cewch fflicio yn nol ac ymlaen o’r rygbi i’r rasys. Peidiwch â dweud nad wyf yn gwneud hi’n rhwydd i chwi edrych ar eich arian yn diflannu.

Wolverhampton

2:20 Solar Deity tro cynta iddi fod mewn ras more bwysig ond mae’n gwella bob ras.
2:55 Guest of Honour Ceffyl ar ei fyny a digon a le i wella

Sandown

2:05 Edmund Kean wedi ennill pwynt i pwynt yn yr Iwerddon a dau ras glwydi
2:40 Rigagadin de Beauchene yw’r ffefryn ac bydd yr arian yn mynd i’r cyfeiriad ond Goring One bydd yn cael fy arian i
3:15 Mr Mole  ceffyl sydd wedi profi ei nerth ambell gwaith ac maer ods yn adlewechu’r ffaith felly r’wyf am fynd ar ei ol Kaslian hefyd. Mae’r ots yn well a hyfforddwr da. Cofiwch os yw’r ots yn mwy na 7/1  bob ffordd amdani ac bydd tipyn o elw
3:50 Midnight Minx Un o’r saith caseg yn yr ras heb colli ond i mi hon yw’r un.

Tri diwrnod cyn Cheltenham. Mae’r hyfforddwr Paul Nicholls wedi ennill y Cheltenham Gold Cup pedair gwaith gyda See More Business (1999), Kauto Star (2007 a 2009) a Denman (2008). Beth am y pumed tro ‘leni gyda Silviniaco Conti.

Canlyniadau
Solar Deity (1)
Guest of Honour (2)
Edmund Kean (3)
Kaslian (3)
Y gweddill yn dal i rhedeg. Dim elw, colled o 17 ceiniog.

Ddim yn rhy ddrwg hefo'r ceffylau ac wrth gwrs Cymru'n ennill.

Byddai yn ol yn yr wythnos gyda tips i gŵyl mawr Cheltenham. Cawn gweled as bydd petha  yn well na heddiw.

Political Almanac

THE WELSH POLITICAL ALMANAC

photo+24
HM Government launched their evidence to the Silk Commission, today, on line. It was a steady as it goes document. A conservative document from a Conservative-Liberal Democrat  government. What  else would one expect.
Perhaps a more exciting development on line is the new place to view my blog. “The Welsh Political Almanac”.
This site contains information on Welsh politics. Election results, election statistics some details on local councils.DSC00025
Hopefully it will give readers an insight into developments in Welsh politics.
The commentary and punditry will be added to on a regular basis and of course the other sections will change after elections.
It is very much a work in progress. For instance the constituency profiles are not complete, they will be added to between now and the next election. Which gives me time to visit and get a feel for the area.
Let me know your views in the comment section. Ideas about future development will be welcomed, as long as its remembered that its a one man operation and I do have the little task of earning a quid or two to pay for life’s little luxuries.

Enjoy.

A new governance for Wales?

Agreement amongst politicians. Unusual, yes but all three opposition parties agree that local councils are not fit for purpose. It’s probably a view shared by the Welsh Government. We await with interest their announcement on the matter.

But despite the Opposition parties agreeing than there is something wrong in the state of local government in Wales. They’re not singing from the same song sheet as to what’s to be done.

Plaid Cymru want to set up a Commission to look at Local Government reorganisation. But in calling for such a Commission it would seem that one option that Alun Ffred Jones rules out is one local authority covering the whole of North Wales. Not on, according to Alun Ffred.

Andrew RT Davies, Conservative and Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly doesn’t want any delay and rules out a Commission. He’s adamant government ought to set out their proposals post haste. He wants the government to set out  the “future map and direction” of local government.  No prevarication, just let the minister get on with it.

But he went on to say “few back the continuation of 22 councils.” So there we have it the Conservative Leader is turning his back on the reorganisation John Redwood imposed on Wales.

Liberal Democrats want to have a proper debate about local government reorganisation the government should “man up” to the changes they’ve imposed. They  accuse the Welsh government of reorganising by stealth. Pushing an education department here into the hands of an education department there. Although reorganisation was disruptive, the austerity faced by councils made a new system necessary sooner rather than later.

So there we have it, all Opposition parties saying local councils are no longer fit for purpose.

Its up to government now. Let them come up with their proposals sooner rather than later. The drift that’s being experienced at the moment doesn’t help deliver decent services. Especially at a time  when the financial shoe is pinching all councils.

Welsh Government certainly has the power to bully local government to carry out its wishes. And within the last few years it certainly hasn’t been slow to read the riot act to councils the length and breadth of Wales. That’s why relations between central and local government are at an all time low.

The sooner that a fresh start is made the better. Let’s have a rational look at how Wales is governed. Local government has never been re-organised since we’ve had devolved government in Cardiff. Its certainly well over due. The inhabitants of Wales deserve better governance both locally and nationally.

Lets get a bit of coherence. So produce your plans now, Sergeant.
